Know the name, but not the symbol? Maybe just the first part of the name? Relax, we've got you covered. Enter in what you know, and we'll search it against the names and stock symbols for all public companies and mutual funds to return the ten best matches. You can also use this to build a really cool ajax interface like the one we're using above. Check out the quote sample search box at the top right corner of the page and start typing in a company name... that's just one of many things you can do with this module.
Top-Level Data
- status
A two-character code, either OK to indicate there were no errors, or ER to indicate there was an error and data will not be returned.
- message
A text description of the error, if applicable. If there is no error, the message will simply be "none".
- searchterm
The exact text passed to the search module.
Second-Level Data (The information that's returned for each search)
- symbol
The ticker symbol of the company queried.
- companyname
The last time this stock was traded.
