Press Releases

Having xml press releases on your site can be a great way to increase traffic and provide your visitors with the information they're seeking at the same time. Since an XML grab happens on the back-end, you're creating indexable pages - and that text will get picked up by the search engines as part of your site's content. You don't get that with a Javascript feed because the Javascript sources aren't indexable by search engines. Besides, those other feeds don't include the full article text anyway, so you're still just sending visitors away from your site.

There are two ways to query this data: by symbol or by Date. Querying by symbol allows you to specify a ticker symbol and return the last 30 day's worth of press releases for that company. Querying by date allows you to specify a date and receive all press from all public companies on that date. Doesn't get much easier than that!

And best of all, like the rest of our data feeds, there are no query limits, so you can check for new articles whenever you want. Check out what's included below or see it live on our demo server.

Top Level Data

  • status
A two-character code, either OK to indicate there were no errors, or ER to indicate there was an error and data will not be returned.
  • message
A text description of the error, if applicable. If there is no error, the message will simply be "none".

Second Level Data (The Press Releases)

  • article id
The unique ID number of the press release. If you're caching these in your own database, this number can be used to determine whether it's a new press release or not.
  • symbol
The symbol the article pertains to.
  • datetime
    The publish date and time.
  • prtitle
The title of the press release.
  • prtext
The full text of the article in a CDATA field (since it may contain HTML).
